Like a fawn
Learning to walk
Across white hot coals
The business suit
In high heels
Presses her luck
Against oncoming cars

Watching this
Self-inflicted disability
Putting herself at risk
For vanity’s sake
Makes me wish
A mountain lion
Would materialize
Of out the ether
In which
The cougar exists
And comically
Run this namesake down

At what point
In our evolution backslide
Did we decide it safer
To hunt for eyes
Than be caught by them
