Under the armor
It became impossible
To determine
How much it took
To fight
If a war
Had taken toll
When that will
Would surrender and
Let sands swallow
The swelling pool

Could never see a face
Behind the welded visor
Or recall a time before
Almost certain
It is a visage
Best forgotten

Unable to stomach
The sight of eyes
Twisted glee
Resolve or resignation

Like to believe
Somewhere beneath
The warrior stare
Was a vision
Overtaken
With tranquility
The dreamy gaze
Of a mystic
At peace
With tomorrow
Standing on your grave
