Hazy days
The nodding off
Merging
Moments of clarity
Well wishes
And conversation
Lost in the mist
Of time lines collapsed
Awaken
To the lurching reality
Of tide like pain
Throbbing within
Sawed bone and
Shaved tendon
Reshaping muscle
And gait
Into some clanking
Three legged cyborg
Terrifying
Cats and infants
Juggling the pills
And bottled beer
From one hand
To the other
While trying to hold
These crutches
I can't help imagine
A gazelle
At the shadow edge
Of an African watering hole
With a similar impairment
Trying to maintain
Its cool
Like nothing is wrong
While the whole world
Closes in
With slathering eyes
