It is a look
Once used to drop
A charging dog
Dead in its tracks
A sideways glance
Bleeding brothers
Into discordant time
A scowl capable
Of parting oceans
And holding the seas
Of humanity
At the end of vision
But never imagined
This cold
Hateful gaze
Burning bright enough
To stare down
Hell’s only master
The devil himself
Looking away
For fear
Of what is dying
Behind these eyes
